The new incumbent Chief Minister of Gujarat since 07-08-2016, Shri Vijay Ramniklal Rupani, is really a true and well mannered humble personality. Sangh culture, disciplined and tireless efforts are the pillars of his political career and the aura of his originality. He was born on 2nd of August in 1956, the month with revolutionary impact, adorning him with this unique responsibility to lead the Government in Gujarat, at the age of 60, provides him with base support.
Since his childhood, Vijaybhai has remained dedicated to the ideals of R.S.S. His style, culture and nature are crystal clear. His career in political field has remained as fruitful as of a self-made social worker. He is born and brought up in a Jain family and the tradition as well as culture of the ancestral nobility are the stronger aspects of his personality. He was born in Burma (Rangoon City), but the nurturing of his childhood and the construction of his qualitative career, took place at Rajkot. Through his ability to owe the responsibility and the instinct remained to undertake the challenges, he sharpened the edges of his effectiveness. His performance always luminous, while attending to his assigned job. It may be for camps or shibir for Sangh or may be the movement of Nav Nirman, either by student's struggle committee. Mr. Rupani never looked back, while performing with priority.
Though being a natural born leader, he always preferred to remain in low profile. Even while maintaining synergic bonding with the party karyakartas at root level, he also tried to strengthen his dialogues with self. He harnessed his strong will power for movement against corrupt practices and also handles faced by the organization of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) utilizing his youthful energy in his college days. He was elected as the General Secretary (GS) of the Student Union in Dharmendrasinhji College with a substantial margin. He also become the voice in the outcry of the Economically Backward Class Students. He led the agitation during his student days writing off the Fees, for the EBC Students.
He was dedicated in elevating the true soul of the democracy and towards its essence of pious inspiration and excellence. He actively joined the people's movement during the emergency and invited imprisonment under MISA for a year in the jails at Bhuj and Bhavnagar respectively at a very tender age in 1976. His internal urge and dedication for services to mankind, brought him to the local politics. He stepped in the scenario of BJP only at the age of 24 years, thinking that he was fit enough to face the challenges against unjust practices.
His journey, from here onward, started getting momentum as a Corporator in 1987. While applying his diplomatic prudence to transform the city of Rajkot into the best city. He utilized all his pursuance for making Rajkot the best city during his tenure as the General Secretary of BJP, Rajkot City and also as the Corporator in Rajkot Municipal Corporation. He was the youngest person to lead the Standing Committee of the RMC. As his inclination towards cleanliness was duly recognized and was appointed as the Chairman of the Drainage Committee of the RMC. He also made entired efforts in improving the quality of Education. He engaged fully in expanding the horizons of education and health. His dedication towards the smallest task and his capacity to en-vigor the fellow karyakartas, speeded up his political progress.
He got the honor of being the medium and witness of the historical agreement of 'Twin City' between Rajkot and Leicester in U.K. with the permission of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Central Government. The agreement was the First of its kind between cities in Foreign Country.
Looking to the momentum the BJP gained under his leadership, the Party Leaders of BJP bestowed upon him the responsibility of the General Secretary of Gujarat Pradesh and was made Prabhari for district like Jamnagar - Kutch - Junagadh - Porbandar etc. and he came up with flying colours for the Party in those Districts and Field.
His synchronization with the organizational leaders was par excellence. His assisting acumen with various presidents of Pradesh BJP, has proven to be enriching the dignity of the post of Secretary of Pradesh BJP. He proved to be an ideal companion to Shri Rajendrasinh Rana, Shri Purshottambhai Rupala and Shri R. C. Faldu during their tenure for the President of the Party. With the ever growing responsibilities and the people's trust, his political path was enlightened due to the trust of the seniors bestowed upon him.
His tactfulness was instrumental in getting everything done, even amongst the constantly changing formulas in party and the Government. He proved himself by positively handling the critical situation in the party very effectively from the back stage. As an incharge his contribution in up keeping the solidarity of the party in Saurashtra region as the in-charge was impressive. He being a skillful administrator and an orator, brightens his persona along with his other characteristics like politeness and courteousness.
Peculiarity of having personal touch with every karyakartas shows that he is firmly rooted to the ground. His tendency of constant and consistent progress, being a Vanik, may have been born out of his faith in truth and nonviolence.
The synthesis of Hon'ble the Chief Minister for the welfare of the common men, along with the Development for all and clean Gujarat, adorns the center stage in his heart. He is well aware of the fact that the strength of the party lies within the small karyakartas. He became popular because it was really easy to reach Vijaybhai at any time for each and every karyakarta. His aim was never to let the state in incantation of motion slow down, never diminish the glory of the party and victory of the people's expectation. His potential always shone through the mist of adverse situations, through his ability to synchronize the party, Institution and Administration. The moral support of his better half Mrs. Anjaliben, will prove to be an asset for the state organization.
The issues of education, employment and career for the young generation have been vital. At such a juncture, when he is taking over the important status in the party, it is sure that everyone will be looking up to him with eyes full of hope and expectations. It is expected that the karyakarta from all ranks will receive his warmth, respect and due response. Being the man of organization, there is natural force in his wise words for the social development. Loyalty towards the Bharatiya Janata Party is like blood flowing in his veins.
He took over as the Chairman of the Manifesto implementation Committee during 1988 to 2002 and then his tenure as the chairman of the tourism after 2006 helped spreading the scent of Gujarat all over the nation, attracted foreign tourists and doubled the employment opportunities for the craftsmen of handicraft.
During 2006 to 2012, he was elected to Rajya Sabha and performed his duties as an MP very efficiently. During this period, he was appointed to the various committees of the Central Government like Water Resources Committee, Subordinate Legislation Committee, Human resources Development Committee, Paper laid on the Table Committee, Customs affairs and Public Distribution Committee, Public Undertakings Committee etc.
He was appointed the Chairman of the Gujarat Municipal Finance Board and led 159 Municipalities in state towards development. Following to his experience as a Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and administrative skills, he showed with his new direction in Development to all the 159 Municipalities of Gujarat.
Vijaybhai got elected as MLA from Rajkot-69 constituency on 19-10-2014. Which proved his efficency of understanding the tendency of the local mass. He took charge as the Minister of Transport and Water Supply, Labor and Employment Department on 19-11-2014. The blubber about the delays in the works of Water Supply Started diminishing due to the efficient execution of work by Vijaybhai. He was successful in transforming the parched land into green covered land and situation of famine into availability of plenty of Water. He also formulated, enacted and implemented new labor law for Shramyogis and schemes facilitating U-WIN Card for the deprived people. Vijaybhai is such a person who truly believes that 'The action speaks louder than words'.
19th February 2016, Friday is birthday of our great warrior Maharaja Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the second Sarsanghchalak respected Shri Golvalkarji (Guruji) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. On this auspicious day Shri Vijaybhai Rupani was appointed as party President, for Gujarat's Bharitya Janata Party.
